Ingredients

Serves 12

1 box Barilla Oven-Ready Lasagne pasta

For the Bolognese

2 celery stalks
2 carrots
1 onion
½ cup Italian pancetta
½ cup butter
2 ½ cups ground beef
1 ¼ cups ground pork
1 cup white wine
½ cup tomato paste
2 leaves bay
To taste salt & pepper

For the Bechamel Sauce

5 ½ tbsp butter
½ cup flour
6 cups milk
To taste salt, pepper & nutmeg

Additional Ingredients

1 cup parmigiano, grated
¼ cup butter
8 eggs, beaten
4 cups breadcrumbs

Method

Step 1

Prepare the Bolognese: In a food processor, grind the vegetables and pancetta. Place in a pot with butter and cook for 20 minutes. Add the meat and stir fry for 30 minutes. Deglaze with white wine. Cover with water then add the tomato paste and bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper then simmer until the water is completely evaporated, about 2 hours.

Step 2

Prepare the Bechamel Sauce: Melt butter in a pan. Add flour and cook for 3 minutes. Meanwhile bring the milk to boil, stir in the butter and flour and simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.

Step 3

Assemble the Lasagna: Place a bit of bechamel sauce on the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish. Build 5 layers alternating 3 sheets of Oven-Ready Lasagne, bechamel, Bolognese sauce, butter and parmigiano. Bake in the oven at 400°F for 25 minutes until the corners are browned. Cool and refrigerate overnight.

Step 4

Deep Fry: Cut the lasagna into 1-inch cubes. Dip each cube in egg wash and breadcrumbs. Deep fry in vegetable oil at 350°F until golden and crispy. Serve!
